Former LGA Chair Elected Enugu PDP Chairman

Enugu state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday elected former Isiuzo local government chairman, Augustine Nnamani as the new Chairman of the party.

New state secretary, Cletus Akalusi and other members of the state executive committee of the party also emerged at a state Congress held at Okpara Square Enugu by party faithful and delegates from the 17 local government areas of the state.

Addressing the delegates, the state governor Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu expressed happiness that there is now genuine peace and harmony within stakeholders of the party in the state and called for cooperation of all to enable the new party exco and the state government to succeed.

Augustine who was declared winner and elected by the PDP National Congress electoral officer, Alhaji Ibrahim Bashri said he pulled 984 votes out of 1014 votes casted to emerge the Chairman.

247ureports.com reports that Hon. Nnamani was alone candidate for the the Chairmanship position.

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi while addressing the Congress of the party, urged the newly elected executives to be mindful of the task before them which is to unity all members of the party for greater challenges ahead especially as the party is now opposition party in Nigeria.

He said the challenge is heavy, it requires collective action and support to make the executives succeed.

Ugwuanyi who reiterated his government commitment to fulfill all his campaign promises to the people of Enugu State however, reminds the people that “we are in era of bailout fund and no longer in excess crude era and must show understand with the government pace.

In his remark, the Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu thanked God that in 16yrs this is the first time the state are witnessing one united state party executives under the state governor in support of all the national assembly lawmakers.

“We are no longer have Enugu group and Abuja group. We now have one group and that is Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi group”.

He said the peace and style of leadership of the state governor which he anchored on peace and unity have given birth to what we have witnessed today.

Innocent Ezeoha was elected Deputy chair, Obiora Ugwuoke – treasurer, Jude Ugwu – Publicity Secretary among others.
