SANGO-OTA — A mechanic identified simply as Mr. Wole is currently in police custody after allegedly beating his wife, Rofiat Okewole, to death in the Owode area of Sango-Ota, Ogun State, after she caught him in an extramarital affair.
The incident occurred on Thursday, August 6, 2026, when Wole reportedly left his home under the guise of heading to his workshop. Acting on local gossip regarding her husband’s unwholesome activities, Rofiat tracked him to a residential apartment in the Owode neighborhood.
Upon arriving at the address, Rofiat allegedly caught her husband in flagrante delicto with a woman identified as Iya Michelle.
A heated confrontation ensued when the heartbroken wife confronted her husband. However, instead of offering an apology, Wole dragged Rofiat out of the apartment and launched a violent assault on her. According to eyewitness accounts, Wole repeatedly slammed her head against a concrete wall until she collapsed onto the floor, gasping for breath.
Medical reports indicate that Rofiat died at the scene from severe internal brain hemorrhage sustained during the head trauma.
Neighbors and residents in the area alerted security operatives, who immediately arrested Mr. Wole before he could flee the neighborhood.
The Ogun State Police Command has launched a full homicide investigation into the matter, while the body of the deceased has been deposited at a local mortuary pending an autopsy.
