All Progressives Congress (APC) South East zone has raised concern over the lopsided appointment at the federal where the zone were carefully scoured out, demanding commensurate appointment as the zone contributed immensely to the success of the party at the federal level.
Contained in a communiqué released at end of its meeting of the leaders of South East (APC) held at Universal Hotel, Enugu Friday, the appealed to pro-Biafra groups, IPOB and MASSOP, to re-think and abandon the idea, and join other tribes in building a formidable United Nigeria where all Nigerians will be equally treated in line with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The ten point communiqué reads; “South East APC after its meeting resolved to supports the anti-corruption crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari and we urge him to go ahead and recover all looted public funds.
“To support President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s other policies particularly the capital intervention scheme for micro credit geared towards empowering the women and uplifting the standard of living of the average Nigerian.
“We thank the APC led federal government for capturing the 2nd Niger bridge, Enugu-Onitsha express road, Enugu-Ph express road, Onitsha-Owerri Express road in the 2016 budget. We are confident that Mr. President will implement the 2016 budget as promised”.
APC South East said it has opened door for all notable and prominent Igbo personalities who would want to join the party, stressing that the political fortunes of the Igbos are realisable in the short-run in APC than any other party.
“We welcome notable/ prominent Igbo personalities into APC. We mandate all APC South East state chairmen to constitute a “membership drive/mobilisation committee” in their various states to woo credible and notable Igbo personalities into the party.
“We believe that APC South East contributed immensely to the success of the party at the federal level and we demand commensurable appointments in the federal government.
The party said it has setup a committee to organise a reception for all the political heavy-weights from the south east who joined the party after the 2015 elections.
“Also a committee was set up to meet with Mr. President to harmonise Igbo interests in the party.
“APC South East supports the leadership of His Excellency Rochas Okorocha Executive Governor of Imo State and Chairman APC Governor’s Forum, His Excellency Ogbonnaya Onu and His Excellency Chris Ngige in the zone.”
It noted that the South East Zonal Executive Committee (ZEC) of APC under the Chairmanship of Hon Emma Eneukwu is a creation of the party’s Constitution and the zonal publicity secretary is Hon. Hycienth Ngwu who is the official and constitutional spoke-person of the party in the south East.
Those in attendance includes; Imo state Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha represented his Deputy, Hon Minister for Labour and Employment His Excellency Chris Ngige, His Excellency Sen Dr. Jim Nwobodo, all the National officers of the party from the South East and some former Minister of Labour, Hon. Emeka Nwogu, Senator Nkechi Nwogu, wife of the former PDP Chairman, Dr. Mrs. Dorothy Nwodo among others.
