The monarch of Ubulu Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM Obi Edward Akaeze Ofulue 111 has been reported dead in Igbodo forest in Ika North Council area of the state.
The monarch was kidnapped on January 5, early this year by suspected Fulani herdsmen along Obior Igbodo road at a bad spot between Ika North East and Aniocha South of the state.
Following the kidnap of the monarch, the sleepy town resorted to prayers in the Obi’s palace while members of the community vigilante combed all the bushes around the community in search of the monarch who had been incommunicado after a ransom demand was made and negotiation reached with the abductors.
A community source at about 9.00pm Thursday, told 247ureports.com that the search team made up vigilante and palace chiefs discovered the dead body in the forest of Igbodo.
The source said the remains was gathered into casket and brought to the village, adding that the monarch would be buried immediately.
The source said monarchs are buried immediately as soon as they died.
It also said the village had become a beehive of activities following the discovery of the dead body and the preparation for the burial.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu, confirmed the discovery, saying preliminary investigations revealed that the person found in the forest was the dead monarch.
