As the race for the position of the secretary to the government of the federation heats up, feelers from the All Progressive Congress [APC] camp indicate that the President-Elect, General Mohammadu Buhari may have made up his mind on who to go with for the said position. According to information available to 247ureports.com, the President-Elect may have decided on an old confidant in the person of Oscar Udorji to occupy the seat.
Oscar Udorji hails from Anambra State. He was a founding member of the All Nigeria Peoples Party [ANPP] – and a member of the party’s board of trustees. Following the breakaway of the Congress for Progressive Change [CPC] from the ANPP, Oscar Udorji became the founding national chairman of the CPC.
He is reported to have stayed a close political ally of General Buhari from his 2003 outing for presidential campaign. He has been a major financers of Buhari’s presidential campaign dating from 2003 till date.
Owing to his unalloyed support for General Buhari, the then President Olusegun Obasanjo punished him by taking away his oil-blocks.
An informed source explains that Oscar Udorji remains a close confident of the President – Elect. “He is the number one contender for the job” said the source who continued to explain that other contenders such as Dr. Chris Ngige and Ogbonnaya Onu are there but they have drawbacks and negatives which the President-Elect is not comfortable with. According to the source, Ngige appears to have a hidden agenda that is at parallel with that of the President-Elect. “He is too stubborn too”.
Ogbonnaya Onu and the current Minister of Education, Malam Shekarau, according to the source, were the ones responsible for “frustrating” General Buhari out of the ANPP into forming the CPC. “Onu abandoned Buhari”. Moreover, Onu hails from the same village as the outgoing SGF, Pius Anyim.
