Boko Haram: Army Threatens Soldiers Over Mutiny, Warns Officers Wives Against Protest

The Chief of Army Staff(COAS), Lt General Kenneth Minimah has described mutiny as act of sabotage which does not speak well for Nigeria military, saying that  any soldier or officer involved in such act  would be court Marshalled and sentenced to death.

Gen Minimah warned that the army would not accommodate any form of rebellion, according to him punishment for soldiers and officers involved in mutiny remained death sentence.

He stated this in Enugu while embarking on a familiarization tour of military units in 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, where he also warned that soldiers caught sabotaging the ongoing war against insurgents in the North East would be seriously sanctioned.

Minimah further said “The issue of saboteur which we experienced in the north east part of the country where soldiers found it necessary to conspire, connive or collaborate with terrorist elements become unfortunate situation”

“We are taking charge of that and very son we will identify them and they will go through a filed court marshall and executed in the threatre”

He said it was an offence for any soldier to sabotage the nations ongoing campaign to rid Nigeria of insurgency and terrorist elements.

“Very soon we will identify them and they will go through a field court marshal and executed in the theatre” he stated.

The Army Chief used the opportunity to warn wives of soldiers in all the military formations in the country to desist from any form of protest against postings of their husbands in any part of the country to fight insurgents.

General Minimah insisted that soldier’s wives have no right to carry our protest on behalf of their husbands because they were not enlisted into the army.

He stated that authorities of the Nigerian Army would not hesitate to kick wives of soldiers that would embark on any for of protest out of the barracks.

The COAS also disclosed that they have concluded plans to buy more arms and ammunition, assuring that they would arrive the country even as he expressed hope that Boko Haram would soon be defeated.
