A policeman serving at the Aba Area Command, Abia State, Inspector Sunday Mefo has died after he accidentally shot himself on the leg.
247ureports.com gathered that the incident happened on Sunday around 10pm after the late cop had signed an AK 47 rifle for night duty.
A Policeman at the Command who spoke on the condition of anonymity told 247ureports.com that Mefo who was trying to check the condition of the gun and pulled the trigger, saw one of the bullets in the cache accidentally came off and hit him on the leg.
The source added that the wounded inspector was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was being treated until Mondaymorning when he died.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abia Command, Geoffrey Ogbonna said he is unaware of the incident.
