The triumphant return of the Kano son to Kano following a 15 year stay at the Kirikiri prison in Lagos – continues to have reverberations across the Islamic communities in Kano and the entire northern Nigeria. Information available to 247ureports.com indicates that Al Mustapha paid a visit to top Islamic leaders in Kano – including the grave site of the late Sheikh Ja’afar Mahmud Adam at the Dorayi grave yard – who he stated visited him regularly in jail.
Among the many Islamic leaders visited by Al Mustapha was the Chief Imam of Al-Furquan Mosque located in the Muslim dominated area of Nassarawa GRA – Sheikh Bashir Umar. The popular Sheikh called on Al Mustapha to submit his person to the will of Allah – stating that his experience was near divine. He prayed to Allah to continue to guide and protect him – urging him to give his all to Allah. He stated that without Allah – it would not have been possible to regain his freedom. In his words, “see all these persecution and tribulation you suffered as the will of Allah; and what you should do now is to totally submit yourself to God. Prophet Yusuf had similar trials but at the end he was compensated by Allah with greater position. So, try to forget all that has happened to you and forgive whoever must have a hand in the mastermind. Allah in his Infinity mercy shall surely fulfill all His plans in your life and reward you abundantly.”
Also among the list of clerics visited was the leader of the Qadiriyyah Movement, Sheikh Qaribullah Nasiru Kabara – who impressed on Al Mustapha to forgive his jailers and to continue to pray for God’s wisdom.
Al Mustapha also visited the top cleric of the Tijjaniyya group – Sheikh Isyaku Rabi’u. Sheikh Rabi’u called Al-Mustapha to renew his relationship with God – and that with God everything is possible. He also reechoed for him to espouse the spirit of forgiveness against his jailers who may have done him wrong. In his words, “I am aware of how prayerful Maryam Abacha was. She prayed fervently to ensure that someday, you will be free and we thank Allah that the day has finally come. In your situation, I do not think there is any need for you to question Allah for what has happened to you. As a true, Muslim, you must not revenge. You must not slap someone because the person slapped you. You have to cultivate the spirit of forgiveness and carry on with your life.”
