Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Dr John Gbor, has pledged to give education 26 percent of national budget estimates, if elected President in the 2019 presidential election.

The APGA flagbearer stated this in his acceptance speech at the party’s presidential campaign flag off at the Ekwueme Square, Awka, on Thursday, Dec 6, 2018.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, Gbor, an educationist, said the present 7 percent the education sector presently receives in budgetary allocation was responsible for the industrial and other crises plaguing the sector.

Flanked by the party’s vice presidential candidate, Jerry Chukwueke, Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano, national chairman of APGA, Victor Oye and the party’s national assembly candidates across the federation led by Senator Victor Umeh, retired major general John Gbor proffered that transformation of the education industry was the key to solving the nation’s unemployment woes.

The former director of army education corps told the surging crowd that the party’s presidential quest was informed by a patriotic rescue mission. ‘APGA will rescue Nigeria from the hands of killers. APGA will rescue the youth from unemployment. APGA will rescue Nigeria’s educational system and set the process to make it great again. APGA will set Nigerian women on the path of prosperity.’

He exhorted the youths not to despair in the face of the difficulties their generation has been thrown into but to assimilate the Zikist spirit; the forerunners of the APGA ideology. Dr Gbor said there was no better time to turn around the Nigerian situation than with APGA’s entry into the presidential race.

To the cheer of about 100,000 APGA supporters, Dr John Gbor debunked the idea by some political parties that the APGA could not possibly win the presidential poll. Waxing philosophical, he said that life’s fortunes could be circumstantial or ordained by God.

‘Victory is from God. Like David, the little son of Jesse, who came from non recognition to become King, God on our side, we’ll be victorious.’

Governor Willie Obiano who rode into the arena with the APGA presidential and vice presidential candidates said he wanted the good governance reigning in Anambra State extended to other States and the country as a whole.

Governorship candidates of APGA in Abia, Benue, Enugu, Imo, Nassarawa and Zamfara States were present at the rally.
