Renowned political opposition leader and stake holder in the opposition party, Congress for Progressive Change [CPC] Alhaji Ishaq Hadejia commented on the judgment on the Jigawa state governor’s son Alhaji Aminu Sule Lamido by Kano magistrate court. He accused the Nigerian judiciary of malfunctioning justice.

Ishaq said people like Aminu Sule needed to be detained and sentenced to a prison term – and not to be released without any serious charges – “he should be detained for some years in prison so as to be a lesson to others”.

Ishaq complained that this is not the first time of being arrested with Jigawa money but because no action was taken the boy continue spending Jigawa money as he pleases. It is injustice for a court to allow the boy to go free while people in the state remain in abject poverty.

He explained that the majority of people living at the rural areas are forced depend on greens – due to abject poverty and nothing to eat from their local stores. “Now famine has ravaged the state”.

If the court had convicted him of such misuse of money by Lamido sons – it will reduce and will save as a deterrent to other people in the state.  He advised EFCC officials in the state to always be watchful because the boy will never stop since he has tested it and enjoyed it.

Alhaji Ishaq accused governor Lamido for not supplying fertilizers to farmers – and even the one government boasted to have provided to farmers was done selectively – to PDP members.

He urged governor Lamido to establish a panel committee that will investigate how the flood money was disbursed to the public. The money given by the federal government which was expected to be given to all flood victims was not share judiciously.

Also Alhaji Inuwa Tahi who is a stake holder from CPC bared his mind saying that what Aminu did was very childish. “How could he carry such amount of money?” – adding that the court has done justice because it is reliably gathered that the boy was using the money for the treatment of his daughter. “What is wrong there, I see no reason the boy should be arrested. The problem is that he made a mistake. He should have carried a check instead of cash money”.
