KANO, NIGERIA — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) National Headquarters has released official registration documentation confirming the candidacy of Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo as the governorship flagbearer of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano State.
The electoral umpire confirmed that Gwarzo’s nomination forms and candidate particulars were duly submitted to the commission prior to the May 10, 2026 deadline, addressing recent public inquiries regarding the party’s official submission status.
Official Validation Paves Way For Publication
According to officials at the commission, the released registration document bears the official stamp and seal of the INEC National Headquarters, verifying that it was generated directly by the electoral body.
The validation comes as a relief to NDC leadership and party faithful in Kano State, who had raised concerns after initial lists failed to reflect the candidate’s name.
The certification is expected to pave the way for INEC to update its official registry and publish Gwarzo’s name alongside his running mate on the cleared candidate list for the upcoming Kano State governorship election.
NDC Reassures Grassroots Followers
State party officials welcomed the development, noting that the release of the stamped verification documents puts to rest speculations surrounding the party’s inclusion on the ballot.
“We have consistently maintained that all statutory requirements were met well within the stipulated timeframe,” an NDC official stated, urging supporters across the 44 local government areas of Kano State to remain steadfast as campaign activities ramp up across the state.
