Twenty four hours after reports confirmed that a life was lost and scores of people were wounded in a Communal Clash between Aguleri and Umuoba Anam in Anambra East local government area, the duo of the Deputy Governor Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim and Police Commissioner Nnanna Oji Ama stormed the area and read riot Act against any form of activities that may endanger law and order in the area .
The visit to the two communities formed part of ongoing efforts to stabilise the situation, safeguard lives and property, and maintain law and order in the affected areas.
The assessment provided the Commissioner of Police and other stakeholders with a first-hand understanding of the security situation on the ground.



According to the statement by the Police Pubic Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga stated the visit further confirmed the reports of the clash .
“The delegation also confirmed the fatal injury sustained by a victim, assessed the extent of property destruction, and reviewed the impact of the crisis on residents and the affected communities”
“The visit further enabled the stakeholders to identify immediate and sustainable measures aimed at restoring and sustaining peace, strengthening security, and preventing further escalation of the situation”
“The Commissioner of Police reiterated the commitment of the Anambra State Police Command to maintaining law and order, protecting the lives and property of citizens, and ensuring that residents are able to go about their legitimate activities without fear”
“CP Nnanna Oji Ama further called on the people of Aguleri and Umuoba Anam to remain calm, refrain from actions capable of escalating the situation, and cooperate with the Police and other security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could assist ongoing security operations and peace-building efforts”
Similarly, the Deputy Governor, Excellency, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, under whose office issues of land dispute is domiciled as the Chairman Boundary Adjustment Committee , urged traditional rulers, community leaders, youth organisations, town unions and other stakeholders to work collaboratively with the government and security agencies towards achieving lasting peace in the area.
He reiterated that security is a shared responsibility requiring the cooperation and commitment of all stakeholders.
The Police however Command assured residents of Aguleri and Umuoba Anam that appropriate security measures are being emplaced to stabilise the affected areas and prevent further breaches of peace, while efforts are ongoing to address the underlying issues through dialogue and other lawful channels.
