KANO — Popular Kano-based social media content creator, Al’ameen, hailing from Tarauni Local Government Area, has tendered an unreserved public apology to the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, following a controversial prank video featuring a staged interview with a false family member.
The apology comes after Al’ameen faced severe backlash for paying an elderly man to pose as the biological father of the senior lawmaker during a recorded interview, a video that rapidly went viral across various digital platforms and sparked widespread outrage among political supporters and community leaders.
Addressing the controversy, the skit maker clarified that the act was intended purely as an online prank and expressed deep regret over the magnitude of the fallout, maintaining that he had no malicious intent to defame the high-ranking legislator.
“It was just a prank, and I never expected it to escalate to this level,” Al’ameen stated in an emotional video appeal. “Nobody sponsored or instructed me to do this. I acted entirely on my own, and I deeply regret the controversy and distress this has caused. I am humbly asking Senator Barau Jibrin and the public for forgiveness.”
Al’ameen urged members of the public and social media users to cease circulating the offensive material, promising to adhere strictly to ethical content creation standards in future productions.
