ABUJA — Legal practitioner Ekene Aninze, Esq., has raised critical questions regarding the official narrative surrounding the fraudulent appointment, forgery, and illegal budget insertion involving one Adeyemi, asserting that a scheme of such magnitude could not have been executed without internal collusion.
Reacting to allegations that Adeyemi unilaterally forged his appointment letter, broke into the Federal Secretariat, forged official vehicle license plates, forged clearance letters presented to international investors and the Head of Service, and illegally inserted funds into the national budget, Aninze questioned the feasibility of a single individual orchestrating such a complex breach without high-level cooperation.
“Adeyemi must be a genius to have pulled off all these things without being caught,” Aninze stated, suggesting that the public exposure only occurred after a dispute arose over the division of illicit proceeds. “The moment he said the amount they asked him to release as their cut for the favour they did for him was too much, everything suddenly came crashing down.”
Aninze expressed dismay that individuals implicated in the scandal have reportedly escaped scrutiny, noting that those fingered in the scheme have been left unscathed without formal investigations or prosecution.
While offering no sympathy for the main suspect—stating that Adeyemi invited trouble by entering into the illicit agreement—Aninze emphasized that the ultimate victims are the Nigerian public, who are left deprived of full transparency and justice in matters of public finance and governance.
