ABUJA — The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that its Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja issued a formal invitation to social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, to appear before investigators and substantiate public allegations against Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Moshood Jimoh.
The invitation follows a series of public statements and online commentary by VeryDarkMan alleging police corruption, framing, and procedural irregularities connected to a high-profile murder investigation during AIG Jimoh’s previous tenure as Lagos State Commissioner of Police.
Official confirmation from Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, revealed that the Force CID has also summoned AIG Jimoh, who currently heads Zone 2 Command, for detailed questioning as part of an internal administrative review.
Police authorities noted that the criminal matter at the center of the controversy has already been investigated and charged before a competent court following legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The Force emphasized that while the matter remains sub judice and will be adjudicated in court rather than through social media campaigns, internal accountability mechanisms are actively investigating the conduct of officers involved.
Reaffirming the public’s constitutional right to demand institutional accountability, the Police urged VeryDarkMan to honor the invitation and present any supporting evidence to investigators, assuring that no officer is above the law and all credible allegations will be thoroughly evaluated under the Police Act.
