The entire commercial city of Onitsha, Anambra witnessed a total lockdown in remembrance of heroes and heroines of Biafra where were massacred before, during and after the Nigerian civil war, as directed by the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB.
Part of the total lockdown included the closure of all the major markets, motor parks, shops and entire business activities from morning till the time of filing this report in the afternoon.
As at the time of filing this report, there was no sign of resuming comnercial and trasport activities as all roads leading into and out of the city remained deserted, except few private vehicles running at a high speed as if they were on emergency.
Some of the residents who stayed in doors were heard discussing in hushed voices that the compliance was more than ordinary Mondays sit-at-home.
