ABUJA — The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has granted political waivers to former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei

The waivers clear the path for both political figures to contest the 2027 senatorial elections under the NDC platform. Senator Omo-Agege will run for the Delta Central Senatorial District, while Rt. Hon. Ochei will contest the Delta North seat.

In a statement signed by the NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, Esq., the party confirmed that its National Working Committee (NWC) approved the waivers following the duo’s recent defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Director stated that the waivers reflect the party’s commitment to building a formidable structure ahead of the 2027 general elections. He cited the politicians’ extensive leadership experience, legislative track records, and grassroots support as key assets to the party’s growth in Delta State.

The clearances exempt both candidates from the standard waiting period usually required for new members before contesting public office. This development reshapes the political landscape in Delta State as parties begin internal reorganisations ahead of the upcoming election cycle.
