ABUJA — Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika, the House of Representatives member for the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The announcement was confirmed in a “Breaking News” bulletin released by Amb. Emenike Egbusunwa, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the lawmaker. The move was finalized on May 5, 2026, following the submission of an official resignation letter to the APC Ward Chairman in Gwarinpa.
In his resignation notice, Hon. Obika stated that his decision followed careful consideration, noting that his “political priorities have shifted away from the current direction” of the APC. This defection marks his second major party switch in the current assembly, having previously moved from the Labour Party to the APC in early 2026.
Hon. Obika’s transition to the NDC aligns him with several other prominent figures who have recently joined the party. Despite the change in party platform, the lawmaker maintains his commitment to his “Continuity 2027” agenda, focusing on infrastructure projects, medical outreaches, and scholarship programs for his constituents in the FCT.
He is currently serving his first term in the 10th National Assembly.
