ABUJA, NIGERIA — Former Kano State Governor Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on Tuesday evening, May 19, 2026, received Hon. Bashir Sulaiman Jalam, a House of Representatives aspirant under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Hon. Jalam is vying to represent the Misau/Danbam Federal Constituency of Bauchi State in the National Assembly.
The Consultation
The legislative hopeful visited the NDC leader at his residence to formally present his filled Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.
During the closed-door consultative meeting, Jalam officially briefed the former presidential candidate on his campaign progress within the constituency and formally sought his political endorsement, prayers, and strategic advice ahead of the upcoming party primaries.
Strategic NDC Expansion
The high-profile visit underscores the ongoing political consolidation within the NDC, especially across the northern region. Following his exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kwankwaso has actively used his extensive political machinery to build the NDC into a viable third-force alternative.
Insiders state that the entry of strong grassroots politicians like Jalam into the Bauchi legislative race is part of a broader strategy by the NDC leadership to capture key federal constituencies and challenge the dominant ruling party in the 2027 polls.
