Ten Communities that make up Anaocha local government area of Anambra state are set to battle their Traditional Rulers following alleged suspension of it’s zoning arrangements for the Anambra State House of Assembly elections.

Recall that in April 7th 2022 the Traditional Rulers had in a Memorandum Of Understanding resolved that the House of Assembly seats of Anaocha 1 and 2 Constituencies would be rotating among the ten Communities with two terms per Town .

The Traditional Rulers further resolved that the rotation subsists irrespective of whichever political party the lawmakers emerge from noting that the aim is for all the ten Communities to have the opportunity to produce a member of the state Assembly in the interest of equity and fairness.

But the Anaocha Equity Forum while speaking shortly after it’s meeting expressed worries over the alleged suspension of the zoning arrangements.

According to the Convener of the Anaocha Equity Forum Mr Valentine Okoye , the forum would not take kindly to what it called acts capable of unsettling the Council Area adding that this move would be resisted .

“This is a Memorandum Of Understanding signed by our Traditional Rulers and it has been respected until now and we the Anaocha Equity Forum see this as a slap on the sensibilities of the ten Communities that make up the area”

“We urge members of the public, all the political parties and stakeholders to disregard the alleged position of the Traditional Rulers as it doesn’t represent the views and opinions of our people”

“Our Traditional Rulers should be mindful of their roles as father’s of our Communities and should also be informed that they would be held responsible for whatever outcome or backlash this recent position would result to and be guided”

“We call on Governor Charles Soludo to call these Traditional Rulers to order so that the peace we are currently enjoying in Anaocha local government area would not be disturbed ” he stated .
