In a dramatic twist within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Nafiu Bala, the Deputy National Chairman (North), has publicly denied reports of his resignation, alleging that his signature was forged in documents circulated by party officials.

Hon. Bala, who recently declared himself the National Chairman of the ADC in opposition to the leadership of David Mark, described the alleged resignation letter as “fraudulent and politically motivated.”

“I have not resigned from my position. The signature on that letter is not mine it was forged,” Bala stated during a press briefing in Abuja. “This is a desperate attempt to silence my legitimate claim to the chairmanship of our great party.”

The controversy has deepened internal tensions within the ADC, with factions now openly challenging the authority of David Mark, the current National Chairman. Bala’s declaration as chairman has sparked debate over the legality and legitimacy of leadership transitions within the party.

Party insiders suggest that the crisis stems from unresolved disputes over zoning arrangements, internal democracy, and alleged marginalization of northern stakeholders within the ADC.

In response to Bala’s claims, the ADC National Secretariat has yet to issue an official statement, though sources close to the leadership maintain that David Mark remains the recognized chairman by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Political analysts warn that the unfolding drama could weaken the party’s cohesion ahead of upcoming elections, unless swift reconciliation efforts are made.

As the situation develops, observers are watching closely to see whether the ADC will resolve its leadership crisis internally or face legal battles that could further fracture its ranks.
