The gallant officers of the Anambra State Police Command, on Sunday morning, foiled a kidnap attempt on a foreigner in the State.

The Spokesperson of the Command, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, disclosed this in a statement to newsmen on Monday.

According to him, the incident happened in Ogbunka Community, where the police operatives engaged the armed hoodlums in a heavy gun battle when they stormed to perpetrate their evil plan.

He, however, hinted that two of the policemen were hit by bullet before they escaped with the foreigner.

The statement partly read, “Police operatives in the morning of 6/10/2024 resisted the Abduction/kidnapping plan of a foreigner by suspected armed secessionist members in Ogbunka village.

“The Operatives courageously engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle and saved the VIP. Unfortunately, during the gun duel, two Police Operatives who were hit by bullet escaped with the foreigner. They are stable and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
