A chieftain of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Ben Obi has bared his mind on what he described as the leadership vacuum in Nigeria and the possible solutions that will rescue the country from her present quagmire and also restore her lost glory.

Chief Obi, popularly known as Igwe APGA, shared his thoughts while interacting with newsmen, during which he pegged former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, as the the leader Nigeria currently needs to be liberated and delivered from her comatose state and current troubles.

According to him, Obi, who is was the presidential candidate of the Labor Party in the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria, has shown that he has what is required to fix and govern Nigeria

“He has shown it in a manner that even the common man and woman has seen and known,” he said.

Chief Obi further explained that his beliefs optimisms are on Obi’s capabilities are not mere assumptions, as he has known for a long time and has firsthand knowledge of him, having hailed from the same Agulu hometown with him, attended the same secondary school with him and shared many activities with him before they proceeded for their university studies. He said Obi, then, proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN); while he himself headed off to the United States of America (USA) for his own studies.

“I know Peter Obi too well and what he can do. What happened between us in the past is in the past,” said the highly-excited APGA chieftain who had been critical of the Labour Party in the past.

According to him, Peter Obi understands the sufferings and conditions of the common Nigerian more than any political leader.

“He achieved great heights as a private citizen in the business world. He did not make his money through politics. He was already a billionaire before he joined politics. He is a prudent man. He knows how to generate wealth. Before he turned 30 years of age, he was already a silent billionaire,” he added.

Continuing, he said “In the public sector as the Governor of Anambra State, Obi achieved the same fate. He returned sanity to the governance of Anambra State, sanitized Anambra’s financial books and ensured Anambra’s finances were utilized judiciously. He also executed many landmark projects without borrowing money or owing money at the end of his tenure as Governor. He eradicated godfatherism and political thuggery. During his eight years as the Governor of Anambra, the difference was clear.”

Igwe APGA further called on Nigerians to not allow the mistake of the 2023 presidential election to repeat itself.

“We know what transpired during the last presidential election and we have seen what it resulted to. We will not allow what transpired in 2023 to happen again in 2027. It cannot be rigged again. I will support him,” he declared.

The APGA chieftain also expressed concerns over the economic plight of the country and how Nigerians struggle to survive on daily basis, toiling day and night, under the sun and under the rain, just to make ends meet, as a result of the current hardship and economic realities in the country.

“For the sake of these people, Peter Obi should be allowed to mount the throne of leadership to rescue this country. Many of the artisans in this country voted for Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential elections. Many of the civil servants who are being denied the rights to a meaningful minimum wage also voted for him in 2023. And they will still vote for him come 2027,” Igwe APGA declared.
