Bayoko Lauds Governor Okowa on Health Care Approvals; Charge Dentists on Collaboration With Health Stakeholders

The State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa has been lauded for been liberal in granting approvals to the requirements of Health Care Professional in the State.

Head of Service of Delta State, Mr. Reginald Bayoko gave the commendation while playing host to the Chairman and other Members of the Nigeria Dental Association (NDA), Delta State Branch and Dental Health Committee (DHC) of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), who paid him a courtesy visit at his Office, on Tuesday in Asaba..

The HoS who responded to some of the issues highlighted by the Chairman of the Delta State Branch of Nigeria Dental Associations, Dr. Mabiaku Yvonne which were centered around staff shortage, medical equipment, need to grant approvals for training and the resuscitation of the Dental Center at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara and training centres across the state, charged the association to synergize with other relevant stakeholders.

Mr. Bayoko while emphasizing that the primary role to determine staff requirements was the responsibility of the Chief Medical Directors of the various hospitals, assured the association that his office would discuss with their Frontline manager who is the Honourable Commissioner for Health on most of the issues raised.

He Charged the association to collaborate with the Primary Health Care Agency and other relevant stakeholders in the Health Sector in order to meet the needs of it members While at the same time pledging his support for the association towards her upcoming World Oral Health Day.

Speaking earlier, The Chairman of NDA, Dr. Mabiaku Yvonne commended the HOS for granting them the audience and requested the HOS to use his good office address the issue of serious shortage of Dentists in hospitals across the State.

While lamenting the situation of staff shortage, Dr. Yvonne said at the Ibusa General Hospital, only one Dentist has been attending to patients for a long while and called for the immediate intervention of government to save the ugly situation.

She stressed on the need for people to pay special attention to their oral health neccesities, saying that research had shown that there was connection between blood pressure related sickness with oral health.
