Excluding the demands by MPR for the government to live up to her developmental responsibilities in Mbaise, most of other speeches were overtly political and regrettably partisan. This was however slightly moderated by the deputy Governor Professor Njoku during his speech, when he said, “There is a season for political campaigns, there is a season for voting and elections. And there is a season for governance…We are now in the season of governance and we invite all of our citizens to join hands with Senator Hope Uzodimma in this season of governance so that we can develop Imo State together,”
As part of the main Iwaji (Yam Cutting) observance, MPR delegation was invited alongside other exclusive VIPs Including the Deputy Governor Professor Placid Njoku and Ndi Ezeji to inspect the yam barn, and were subsequently honored with the culturally significant gift of a whole yam tuber. The delegates knowing the associated blessings of the gift were eager to touch and feel it.
