Ladies and gentlemen of the press.

In line with the Inspector General of Police vision and mission on Operation Puff Adder meant to reclaim the public space from heinous criminal elements that are bent on threatening the nation’s internal security, the Kano State Police Command re-evaluates and put in place new operational strategies before, during and after the Sallah festive period from 30/05/2019 to 5/06/2019, and this led to the arrest of the following suspects and recovery of exhibits.

  1. ARREST OF CAR THIEVES AND RECOVERY OF 2 MOTOR VEHICLES:

On the 30th June 2019, operatives attached to SARS Kano while on surveillance Patrol, on credible tip – off arrested Abdullahi Musa AKA Bigi of Brigade Quarters Kano, a notorious specialized Car thief based in Kano. A Peugeot 406 blue in colour with registration number AM 945 NSR was recovered from him. He volunteered a confessional statement in which he indicates his notoriety and expertise on motor vehicles no matter the security installations. Another car thief arrested is identified as Auwalu Usman of Dakata Quarters Kano from whom an unregistered Honda Accord ash in colour was recovered. Both suspects will be charged to court immediately investigation is completed.

 

  1. SYNDICATE OF KIDNAPPERS AND ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS BUSTED:-

On 01/06/2019 at about 1705 hrs based on intelligence report, detectives arrested one Nuhu Abdullahi of Zangon Dakata quarters Kano on suspicion of being a ring leader in a syndicate of notorious armed robbers that have been terrorizing the inhabitants of Naibawa, Dorayi, Unguwa Uku , and Sallari Quarters Kano. On spot search, 1 pump action riffle, 1 English Barrette pistol, 1 locally made pistol with 22 live cartridges, 7 rounds of 9mm ammunition are recovered from him. The suspect confessed to being a ring leader of the syndicate and led detectives to the arrest of his members in Kaduna (2) Umar Yahaya (3) Sabiu Adamu and (4) Abdullahi Musa all of various addresses in Kaduna State. Investigation is going on to arrest more members of the syndicate and recover their operational arms.

In the same development, our operatives while on surveillance patrol at Getso Market, Gwarzo LGA Kano arrested (1) Abdullahi Ali ‘M’ of Maska Village, Musawa LGA Katsina State (2) Sani Rabe of Zamfara State and (3) Shuaibu Idi  of Safana  LGA Katsina State for being suspected to be members of a criminal gang. They confessed to be members of a syndicate of armed robbery and kidnapping terrorizing people in Kano, Katsina and Zamfara States. They do operate in Gwarzo, Kiru, Bebeji, Shanono, Rogo, Karaye and Madobi LGA’s in Kano State and stated that they have 5 AK 47 rifles in possession of their gang leader who is popularly called Gemu believed to be hiding in Zamfara Forest. Investigation is in high spirit to arrest the said Gemu and recover the operational arms.

  1. MOTORCYCLE THIEF AND RECEIVERS ARRESTED:

On 2/6/2019 at about 1300hrs based on credible information, one Abubakar Abdullahi of Zangon Dakata qtrs Kano was arrested in connection with rampant theft of motorcycles. During interrogation, he confessed to be expert motorcycle thief operating in Kano Metropolitan. He mentioned Kabiru Musa and Sani Umar all of Rimin Kebe Qtrs Kano as his receivers who buy the bikes at giveaway prices. 2 motorcycles     were recovered so far, Investigation is ongoing.

  1. RAID OF CRIMINAL HIDEOUTS:

To control activities of criminally minded persons in the State, the Command continued raid of criminal hideouts and black spot located at different parts of the State. During the raids carried out on 4th and 5th June, 2019, 90 Suspects were apprehended from Gano general area, Dawakin Kudu LGA, Bachirawa Qtrs, Ungogo LGA, Emir Palace Road Kano Municipal LGA, Dala, Panshekara, Kwana hudu, Dakata and Zangon Dakata qtrs. Exhibit recovered from the suspects include 64 knives, scissors, axe,  cutter, charms wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and suck and die liquid substances. The suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.

  1. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS:

On 1/6/2019 at about 1525hrs, a team of Anti-Daba squad while on surveillance patrol arrested one Abdullahi Ahmed ‘M’ of Kurna Qtrs Kano along with 5 others for criminally conspiring, armed themselves and broke into shops and houses where they carted away properties with thousands of naira. 1 plasma TV valued N250, 000, 5 jeans trousers, 5 shirts, 2 ladies bags, 4handsets parcel of Indian hemp were recovered from them. They confessed to being a syndicate of armed robbery and breaking implements such as knives, saw, hammer, 6 torch lights   were recovered from them. They will be charged to court for prosecution.

  1. ARREST OF NOTORIOUS CRIMINALS THAT SPECIALIZED IN SHOP AND HOUSE BREAKING

On 3/6/2019 at about 0315hrs a team of policemen attached to Anti-Daba while on Patrol along Kwari Market Kano arrested Yusuf Hamza of Kwana Hudu Qtrs Kano and (2) Mansur Sani in possession of 30 pieces of wrappers valued at N45,000,00. On interrogation they confessed to have broke and stole them from inside a shop in the Market. They will be charged to court for prosecution.

  1. THREE SUSPECTS ARRESTED WITH COUNTERFEIT DRUGS On 1/06/2019 at about 1130hrs a team of policemen on patrol at Kwana Hudu Qtrs Kano arrested (1) Ghali Alkasim (2) Murtala Ali and (3) Abdulrahman Dayyabu all of Kwana Hudu Qtrs Kano in possession of 30 packets of counterfeit Augmenting tablets suspected to have been produce within the neighbourhood by them and other conspirators, they will be charged to court for prosecution.
  2. TWO SUSPECTS NABBED WITH A LOCALLY MADE PUMP ACTION RIFLE:

On 2/6/2019 q team of policemen while on patrol along Independence way Dakata Kano arrested (1) Abba Abubakar of Maiduguri Metropolitan Borno State and (2) Ismail Hassan of Dakata Qtrs Kano while in possession of a locally made pump action rifle. Investigation is going on to ascertain their mission, arrest their accomplices and recover more exhibits before charging them to court for prosecution.

  1. ARREST OF NOTORIOUS THUGS AND RECOVERY OF HARD DRUGS:

On 6/6/2019 at about 1140hrs a distress call was received at Anti-Daba Squad that some miscreants were engage in extorting and causing injuries to passers-by around Sani Mainagge Qrts behind Lale Cinema. A team of policemen was immediately raised and on reaching the scene, (1) Sani Suleman (2) Abba Hamisu (3) Ali Mohammed and 9 others were arrested, 6 blocks of dried leaves of Indian hemp, 3 long knife, 1 stick, 3 Gariyo, 4 sharp knives, 2 cutlasses and bunch of criminal charms were recovered from them. Suspects will be charged to court for prosecution immediately investigation is completed.

  1. CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, MURDER AND INPOSSESSION OF DANGEROUS WEAPONS

On the 04/06/2019 at about 1700hrs, the police while patrolling around Emir’s palace Kano arrested 25 suspects in connection  with the death of one person, causing injuries to some others and  in possession of  dangerous weapons e.g. knives, Gariyo, Cutlasses, Sticks, Charms and Intoxicated drugs.

  1. ARREST OF 2 SUSPECTS AND RECOVERY OF 14 SACKS OF INDIAN HEMP

On the 05/06/2019 at about 1800hrs,  a team of policemen attached to Dala Division through credible information arrested and recovered 14 big sacks of Indian Hemp valued about 5 million naira at Dala Quarters Kano.

 

  1. ARRESTOF BLACK SMITH WHO SPECIALISED IN MANUFACTURING DANGEROUS WEAPONS FOR CRIMINALS

On the 06/6/2019 at about 1630hrs one suspect Mohammed Mustapha was arrested with dangerous weapons and confessed to have bought the said weapon from one Abdullahi Inusa ‘M’ of Tamburawa Village, whom police are trailing for over 5 years and was immediately arrested. He confessed to manufacturing of knives and sharp iron rod and sold to the people, case under investigation.
