Governor Samuel Ortom has directed the Benue State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, to step up food distribution at the various Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps across the state.

He gave the directive when he received Mrs. Joy Terna,  a nursing mother who lost one hand during a Fulani militia herdsmen attack.

He also directed his personal physician, Dr. Zulum Gbaa, to attend to the victim at the Benue peoples House and give her full medical attention.

He promised to revisit the IDP camps to assess their current conditions with a view to taking more steps to alleviate their sufferings.

Governor Ortom appealed to well meaning individuals, organisations as well as the federal government to assist the IDPs so as to augment the support from the state government.

The victim, Mrs.Terna, informed the Governor that she sustained her injury when the herdsmen attacked and shot her leaving her for death.

Accompanied on the visiy to the Governor by her mother, Mrs. Terna who  had been staying at the Abagana camp since the incident took place, said she and her family have been surviving with the supplies by the Ortom administration and those from philanthropists.

She said her family lost all to the attack and appealed for food and other necessary supplies including shelter and  Medicareto make life meaningful for them.
