Regional Agitations: Reconsider Restructuring Now, APC Chieftain Tells FG

PDP To Osinbajo: You Are A Beneficiary Of Corruption

A chieftain of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Timi Frank, has asked the Federal Government to reconsider and give attention to the need to urgently restructure the nation so as to put an end to various agitations currently going on in the country.

Recall that the Minister of Information and cuture Lai Mohammed has said that restructuring the country is not a priority for the Buhari led administration, adding that due to what the present government inherited, restructuring was not a factor.

Mohammed, according to the reports had assured that government would not be found wanting in the discharge of its primary responsibility of protecting the lives and property of Nigerians, threatening that government would deal decisively with anyone or group that disturbed the peace of the nation.

But in a statement signed on Sunday in Abuja, Comrade Timi Frank, urged the APC-led Federal Government to reconsider such position, saying restructuring does not mean break-up.

Frank also appealed to all the regional leaders and their youth leaders to give peace a chance and refrain from making comments that could hanger region against each other.

According to the APC Deputy Publicity Secretary, the recent Kaduna declaration by some Northern youths on Igbos living in the North had been widely condemned, therefore other regions should take the paths of peace instead of making comments capable of creating tensions across the country.

On the need to restructure the federating units that make up Nigeria, the APC stalwart said many distinguished Nigerians across board, including the National leader of APC and the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have made useful suggestions on how modern nation should be ran, calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to listen to these voices of reasoning.

“It is now very clear from different ulterances coming from regional leaders that most people are tire of the current system. Therefore, for us to continue to keep Nigeria together, Nigerian government must restructure the country.

“We must also learn quickly from what happened in Rwanda and Sudden experiences, that is why I’m appealing to the government to please reconsider the voices of most Nigerians calling for restructuring.”

While declaring that every region in the country is important in Nigeria project and to keep the nation together, Frank also urged the Nigerian youths not to allow themselves to be used by “some politicians disguising in the name of fighting regional course.”
