The recent exchange between the political gladiators in Anambra over the embarrassing outing of the former Governor’s [Peter Obi] media workers in their claim that Obiano had hired a private jet – reached an unpleasant noise decibel – where the Peter Obi media boys noticeably pivoted away from their claim that the Governor had hired a private jet for $15,000 for his trip to Abuja, the federal capital territory [FCT].
They cleverly pivoted away from the claim and laid a counterclaim. Their counterclaim changed the subject of discourse. They claimed threat to life, initially against the chief principal of the media team, Valentine Obienyem – and then later to the man himself, Chief Peter Obi. They issued Press releases stating that the lives of their team members were in danger. Spectators observe that the Peter Obi media had indeed managed to successfully change the subject from the failed allegation against Governor Obiano to discussions of threat to life.
But in talking to one of the former aides and a kinsman [Benji Obi] to Peter Obi, it was learnt that Peter Obi may have had a secret agenda for the Obiano administration beyond the threat of life claim. According to the Kinsman who had served Governor Peter Obi as one of his closest aide during the eight years of Obi’s administration, Peter Obi wants violence and bloodshed in Anambra in the manner it happened during the Ngige era where Chris Uba [Eselu] employed the services of thugs to cause mayhem in Awka and other urban centers in Anambra to induce a state of emergency. He recalls that the then Governor Ngige was kidnapped by the colleagues of Chris Uba.
Benji Obi aka Mbuze Agulu also presented a striking comparison between the activities of Chris Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] to the present unfolding activities of Peter Obi of the PDP. Both Chris Uba and Peter Obi, he claims, wanted to take charge as political godfathers over their supposed political godsons. Chris Uba over Ngige and Peter Obi over Obiano. Both political godsons were not willing to play ball. Chris Uba, in his calculation, opted for violence and intimidation to achieve his goal but he failed because Ngige fought back. Peter Obi, in his calculation, started with media intimidation of Obiano – and may over-pour into violence as election day nears.
Benji Obi pointed to Peter Obi’s not-so-known violent side. He revealed that during the eight years he served Peter Obi that they used the services of a notorious thug from Nkitaku village, Agulu by the name “Iko”. The notorious thug, according to Benji Obi, helped execute most of the elections in remote areas where the police were not present. “They were the ones Peter Obi used to harass marketers and motor park users into paying their taxes or dues“. Benji Obi hinted that other dirty jobs and potentially criminal jobs were assigned to the notorious thug. “Some of the jobs included killings“.
“Iko is now training thugs for Peter Obi“, Benjo Obi alleges. “We know where they are being trained. We are watching them. We are watching carefully to see what they want to use the boys for, whether to cause mayhem or rig election violently.” Benji Obi hinted that the security agencies in Anambra were already aware of the activities of Iko and his recently interactions with ex-convicts inside ‘a certain’ forest in Anambra. A security agent in Anambra confirmed to 247ureports.com that Iko was among the suspected kidnappers marked for death immediately following the arrival of Obiano as the governor of Anambra State. “But he escaped“.
“Let Peter Obi come and tell the people why he is fighting Obiano. If he is not a hypocrite let him come out and tell the people why he has employed media thugs to maligned the Governor of Anambra State. If he is not ashamed, let him tell the people“, said Peter Obi’s kinsman who told 247ureports.com that he had decided not to talk on Peter Obi matter again but Peter Obi’s continued hit-man type of daily attacks on the Governor based on fabricated lies cannot be left unanswered. “I promised to keep quiet but Peter Obi has refused to keep quiet. We all know why Peter Obi is fighting Obiano. It is shameful. One day we will expose it”
“This is last warning to Peter Obi. Peter Obi should just gracefully leave the stage and allow the current governor to govern in peace without his daily criticisms from his hired guns and media touts in the persons of Valentine Obienyem and the deportee, Mazi Odera.” Benji Obi added that it was just unfair for Peter Obi not to accord Obiano the same respect accorded to him by Chris Ngige. When Peter Obi took over the affairs of the State, Chris Ngige respectfully walked away from the stage. Peter Obi has chosen to hug the stage instead. “We may have to disgrace him out of the stage instead if he continues to refuse to step away“.
Obiano has four years to pilot the affairs of the state before the call to polls. According to Benji Obi, Peter Obi and his boys should wait till campaign season or election day to register their grievance with the Governor. “The people are happy with Obiano including the town of Agulu where the President General of the Town and the Monarch along with all the village heads and top businessmen paid homage to the Governor pledging their support and applauding his performance“.
