What looked like political roll call was witnessed yesterday within the officer of the Commissioner of Police in charge of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS in Abuja when the anti-robbery warlords arrested one Chibuzor Okeke from Nkpor Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State in connection with the alleged attack on one Mr. Chukwuma Julian Anayo, (a brother-in-law to one Mr. Sunday Ebunam, a notable hotelier in Obosi also in Idemili North).

According to reliable sources within the officer of CP, FSARS, immediately the suspect was arrested yesterday after weeks of his alleged refusal to honour police invitation despite series of attempts made by the FSARS to apprehend the suspect, cream of politicians from Anambra State in the like of the immediate past governor, Mr. Peter Obi, Senator Annie Okonkwo, the immediate past Road Safety Corps Marshal, Chief Osita Chidoka are among other political juggernauts who were sighted within the office of the Commissioner of Police in charge of Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS making attempt to secure the bail of the armed robber suspect.

It would be recalled that the compliant in the matter (Mr. Sunday Ebunam) had written a petition  to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department,  (FCID), dated 16th day of August, 2016 where he accused the suspect, (Chibuzor Okeke) of having led a gang of armed men to allegedly robbed their victim of his two mobile phones (a Nokia and Techno Phones), a Casio Swatch Wristwatch valued at one thousand, three hundred dollars ($1, 300) and the cash sum of ten thousand, five hundred Naira (N10, 500).

While the politicians were alleged to be making move to off hook the suspect from being incarcerated by the police, the compliant on his own side, also made his own contact through Human Rights group even as it was learned that activists were said to had made calls across to the police authorities in Nigeria and calls according to sources, thwarted the move allegedly made by the politicians to bail Chibuzor Okeke.

Insisting that all the suspects earlier arrested by the SARS, Anambra State and Chibuzor Okeke should be charged to court of competent jurisdiction; Mr. Sunday Ebunam urged the police authorities in Nigeria never to allow the suspects escape through the back door(s) of the police.
