The fat lady may have sang her last verse in the gubernatorial tussle in Edo between the All Progressive Congress [APC] and the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP]. This is as unconfirmed but highly reliable source indicates that the PDP has scored victories at the 13 local government areas [LGAs] out of the 18 LGAs of the State.
Counting of votes is expected to resume by 7am today. The Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] in Edo State had suspended counting of votes last night.
Prior to suspending the counting exercise, the INEC officials covered 10 LGAs namely – Orionmwhon, Ovia NE, Uhunwode, Ikpoba-Okha, Esan West, Esan north east, Etsako central, Egor, Etsako west and Oredo. The results from INEC indicate APC to be leading in Egor, Oredo and Etsako west. APC is expected to win Owan East and Akoko Edo – they are considered APC strongholds.
However security personnel who spoke to 247ureports.com indicate that “alot has happened between last night and this morning”. He suggests that the INEC may have succumbed to the efforts to compromise the process. The PDP had already raised concerns of potential rigging by the ruling party in the state – during the said downtime of last night till today’s morning.
Some of the insiders within the security agents reveal that the results had already been written and submitted to the INEC officials. 247ureports.com obtained a copy of what the said result is. The results show APC with a resounding victory – with “15 LGAs to be declared won by APC and 3 LGAs to be declared won by PDP“.
The breakdown goes this way…
APC- 6 LGAS.
