Police Arrest Eight Armed Robbers, Six Kidnappers, Rescue Two Kidnap Victims In Delta

The Delta State Police Command said it has apprehended a total of 14 hooligans disturbing the peace of the state in various locations.

In a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, Superintendent of Police (SP) Celestina Kalu said, “on Monday 8 August, 2016 one Daniel Uboh, a Permanent Secretary was kidnapped from his farm along old Lagos road Agbor by unknown hoodlums. The victim was released by his captors on Friday 12th August, 2016 after the payment of undisclosed ransom”.

The police image maker disclosed that acting on a tip off, Special Anti-kidnap squad corroborating with detectives from Agbor Division were dispatched and made an arrest.

Hear her: “However, on Friday 12th August 2016, while acting on available intelligence, operatives of Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad Asaba in combined operation with detectives attached to Agbor Division arrested one Umar Ibrahim ‘m’ who allegedly took part in the crime”, stating investigation is ongoing.

In same development, another victim, Helen Otah who was returning from Church in company of her husband was whisked away, “On Sunday 14th August 2016, one Helen Otah, of Ogono Orogun while returning from church in company of her husband in their Hyundai Jeep was kidnapped at the gate of her house by unknown hoodlums. The victim was rescued, while the Hyundai Jeep was recovered on the same date through the combined efforts of policemen and Delta vigilante group”.

She disclosed, “However, on Tuesday 16th August 2016 at about 0600hrs while acting on a tip off surveillance team from ‘A’ Division Ughelli in collaboration with Delta vigilante group stormed Ekerawhe village in Agbarho area and arrested one Ogheneruma Umukoro, Okoro Evidence, Blessing Akaporere, Akaughrobo Ovie and Mokpeyere Johnson in connection with the crime”, adding that, “the suspects have confessed to the crime and are assisting Police investigation”.

Also, “on Monday 15th August, 2016 at about 1800hrs, the zonal head of Delta State Institute of Continuing Education, Agbor reported at the Police station Agbor that earlier on the same date, about twelve unknown boys invaded the school, beat up some Corps members/students and made away with their handsets and other valuables”.

According to her, sequel to the report, detectives commenced investigation and arrested one Ojebor Ifeanyi, Gbenoba Benjamin, Omokaro Emma, Dike Nwose Jeffrey and Gbenoba Raymond in connection with the crime. Investigation is in progress.
