The National Chairman of the All Progress Congress (APC) ohn Oyegun has said that the party is prepared for whatever outcome ensues from the swearing in of the Governor – Elect of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
Recall that James Faleke had challenged his party’s decision in court for picking Bello over himself as the Governor Elect after the demise of Abubakar Audu.
Addressing journalists at the party’s National Secretariat on Monday in Abuja, Oyegun said, “As a party we have prepared for every possible contingency in the Kogi situation, so whatever happens in the next few days, hours we are ready for it there is no question and doubt about that.
“I don’t want to go into the details of what is likely going to happen, that is still between INEC and legal authorities.
“Just rest confidently, it is sometimes good to be expecting what is going to happen, keep your gun powder dry and watch, “he said.
When asked to comment on the screening out of Senator Uche Ekwenife by his party in Anambra Central Senatorial re run election, Oyegun said, “(Anambra Senatorial election) I believe it has long ceased to be an issue because the party long ago after due process of our constitutional requirements, after going through the entire process, the process threw up barrister Sharon Ikeazor as the candidate for the party for the senatorial election and that is an issue that has since been decided.
“I don’t know this rather excessive concern of respected Senator Uche Ekwenife she is a loyal party member, she went through the processes, it is in the constitution of the party to have procedures, screening processes, primary committees all of these are there
“It happened that there were two ladies of stature vying for that position, she has just come into the party straight into the process of nomination.
“Those who processed the nominations, we have a score chat and it just happens a cut off point of 51 percent, she just happened to score less than 51 per cent and that is it, “Oyegun added.
