A fresh allegation has surfaced in the months-long controversy surrounding Bauchi South Senator Shehu Buba, with content creator D English Alhaji Media claiming that a man identified only as Bashir — allegedly an associate of wanted bandit kingpin Dogo Gide — was found recovering from a gunshot wound inside the senator’s residence.

The Latest Claim

The allegation was raised in a video published by D English Alhaji as part of an ongoing series built around claims from a man identified as Hassan. According to Hassan, Bashir is a longtime associate of Dogo Gide who was shot in the arm during a confrontation with Nigerian Army personnel, later received treatment, and was subsequently seen inside a residence Hassan and D English Alhaji linked to Senator Buba.

The video reportedly includes footage showing the man in a rural setting alongside armed individuals, as well as separate footage showing him indoors with one arm apparently immobilized. D English Alhaji questioned how a man allegedly tied to a wanted bandit network could have ended up inside a sitting senator’s residence, and called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the military and other relevant authorities to investigate the man’s identity, the ownership of the residence, and the circumstances of his alleged presence there.

Part of a Longer-Running Dispute

This is the latest in a series of allegations Hassan has made against Buba through D English Alhaji’s platform since early September, which have previously included claims that individuals linked to Dogo Gide were brought to Abuja for specialised training — reportedly in drone operations and sniping — with the assistance of a Buba aide, and that weapons and ammunition were kept at the senator’s residence. Hassan has also claimed he approached the DSS with information but was told officials could not act because those involved were too powerful, and has separately alleged that Dogo Gide is more dangerous than fellow bandit leader Bello Turji.

Buba, a former Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence and the Peoples Redemption Party’s 2027 governorship candidate for Bauchi State, has consistently denied any relationship with bandits or terrorists, describing the videos and claims as fabricated, manipulated, and part of a political campaign by opponents to damage his reputation ahead of the 2027 elections. He has said Hassan was originally introduced to him in 2024 as an orphan seeking educational support, and that he helped enroll him in schools in Kaduna. Buba has also said he petitioned the Inspector-General of Police over the earlier allegations and that four suspects were arrested in connection with the matter, and has alleged that Hassan fled to Niger Republic and continues broadcasting with financial backing from political opponents.

Buba’s Voluntary Submission to Security Agencies

On September 14, amid mounting pressure, Buba announced he had voluntarily made himself available to the DSS, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Defence Intelligence Agency for investigation into the banditry, terrorism-financing and kidnapping allegations against him. His legal team, led by former Nigerian Bar Association president Yakubu Maikyau, formally wrote to the three agencies requesting a probe. As of the last DSS update on the matter, the agency indicated its findings would be released later, tying the timeline to an earlier, separate probe connected to 2024 Hajj registrations.

Bauchi State Police Command has said it had not received a formal complaint tied to the allegations as of early September.

Unverified Claims

As with the earlier rounds of allegations in this saga, the claims involving Bashir have not been independently verified by security agencies, and no official confirmation of his identity, alleged injury, or presence at any residence linked to Buba has been provided. 247ureports.com has not independently confirmed the footage referenced in D English Alhaji’s video.
