Former Nigerian football star and ex-captain of the Super Eagles, Nwankwo Kanu has taken over the governorship campaigns of the deputy speaker and flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo State, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, calling on the youths of the state to massively vote for the party in the February 28 governorship election.
Kanu, who led the PDP campaign train to Isu and Njaba Local Government Areas of the state, yesterday, came in the company of the former governor of the state, Chief Achike Udenwa, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, his running mate, Chief Chuma Nnaji; PDP chairman, Sir Nnamdi Anyaehie; Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu, Chief Chris Ohuruzor, Chief John Agbasi, Hon. Jones Onyereri and many others.
Speaking at Central School, Umuaka in Njaba LGA, where throngs of youths and women came out to see and hear him, the ex-football star also called on Nigerian youths to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election on February 14, noting that with Jonathan, the future is bright for Nigerian youths.
His words, “Na me be Papilo. I know say one day, I go make you proud. My dear youths of Njaba, I’ve come with PDP so that you will not be deceived again into making another mistake during the next week’s election. I’m here to urge you to vote for Rt.Hon Emeka Ihedioha on February 28. Ihedioha will make you a proud native of Imo State if you vote for PDP. He will ensure that you, I mean the unemployed youths among you will get good jobs and ensure that your schools will be of great quality again.
“Also, I want to urge you to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan and PDP on February 14 to enable him complete the good programme he had started in the country”.
Urging Nigerian youths to have their trust in Jonathan’s Transformation agenda, Kanu noted that Jonathan had given Nigerian youths bright hope and stated that with the speed at which Nigerian economy was growing under the administration, the youths would be better for it.
