> *as the fate of Oduah, Ekwunife remain uncertain
Last minute push by the immediate past Aviation Minister, Princess Stella Oduah and the efforts of Senators Andy Ubah and Margery Okadigbo to go for re-election in the next month’s general election may have hit the rocks permanently.
>
> Indications on this emerged after failed spirited attempts by some Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) big wigs and Presidency officials to get Chief Chris Ubah and his line-up to shift grounds. Top among the candidates on his list included Senator Annie Okonkwo who is seeking a return to the upper chamber; Prince John Emeka, a former Minister of Transport who claimed he won in 2011 but was played out in the chess game at the last minute; and the godfather himself, Chris Ubah who was set to replace his elder brother and former Presidential aide Andy. Others for the lower chamber include Charles Chinwendu Odedo, Chief Ceasar Ofoma, chief George Ozodinobi, amongst others.
>
> The situation did come as a surprise as political watchers who are conversant with the politics of Anambra state read the handwriting on the wall when multiple state executives made up of quasi-legal and illegal officers emerged as the nomination process approached.
>
> At the last count there were as many as four distinct executives laying claim to legitimacy, even when long before now the courts had ruled clearly in favour of the Chief Ejike Oguebego-led executive. This was said to be loyal to Chief Ubah.
>
> Oguebego, in apparent move to put everyone including the PDP on legal notice had on more than one occasion published the court verdict verbatim for all to see and note. Yet, all that notwithstanding, the PDP went ahead to set up what it tagged a caretaker executive, and it became an effort in futility from the beginning.
>
> As at the time of going to press last night, when all efforts to get Ubah to buckle and shift grounds on his some of his candidates and accept to ‘harmonize’ the lists completely failed, the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) was mandated to formally announce and publish their names.
>
> The task was awaiting the commission’s Commissioner in charge of Legal/Clearance comply with, as the chairman had no other impediment to so do. As not even the alleged overbearing efforts and involvement of the Secretary to the Federal Government(SGF), Chief Anyim Pius Anyim was able to save the neck of Oduah who was said to be one of the key reasons for the pressures to have the list scrambled.
>
> Party insiders were reported to have blamed the SGF and the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisah Metu for the prolonged ugly situation in the party in the state, which they also observed in other states in the South East zone.
>
> Anyim was further lampooned for interfering and being part of the Anambra confusion when he could not make any appreciable impact in his home state of Ebonyi and the PDP there have all shifted base to the Labour Party, including the governor.
>
> As at the last count, the senators being presented include Annie Okonkwo(Central); Chris Ubah(South) and John Emeka(North). While the Some of the top shelf candidates for the Federal House of Representatives include Charles Odedo(Idemili North/South); Ceasar Ofoma(Nnewi North, South/Ekwusigo, etc.
