Anambra state governor and Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Willie Obiano has commended the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Abia state, Dr. Alex Otti for offering to serve the people as governor in 2015, adding that he has the best capacity to take Abia to greater heights.
Speaking at an APGA rally at the Recreation Club, Aba, where Otti was presented as the candidate of the party in the Abia gubernatorial contest, the Anambra state chief executive described Otti as an astute banker and a man of impeccable character whose words has remained his bond.
“People of Abia State should vote for Dr. Alex Otti if they need the desired change in 2015. A vote for Otti in February Governorship election will bring progress and prosperity to Abia and other neighboring southeast and south-south states. Otti has the right connection and wealth of knowledge to pilot the affairs of the state even in the face of austerity going by his pedigree in the banking industry,” Obiano said.
In his acceptance speech, Otti who said he would declare a state of emergency to address infrastructural decay which has plagued the city, promised to create a ministry of Aba affairs if elected the governor of Abia State
According to him, “Aba has suffered bad governance and infrastructural decay. I want to salvage the land of my birth and that is why I want to be the governor. Today (Thursday) marks the end of all these problems. I have a well planned programme to transform this state and Aba in particular. We are going to start work on roads in Aba and other parts of the state a day after I am sworn in as the governor of the state.”
While reacting to reports that a particular candidate has been anointed to rule Abia state, Otti said “Human beings can anoint someone but the highest is the one that comes from God and not by man. I am going to embark on massive infrastructure, tackle insecurity and return Aba to the threshold of economic development.
“I am going to replicate what Gov. Willie Obiano has done in Anambra state and I promise not to disappoint Abia people.”
Also speaking at the occasion, National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh said only APGA has the capacity to bring the needed change in Abia state.
He added that APGA remains the only trusted party to truly work in the interest of the people, adding that APGA after a meticulous process have presented candidates that have leadership qualities and political will to take Abia to the path of economic development.
The event also witnessed the decamping of former PDP chieftains; Chiefs Chris Nkwonta, David Onuoha and Ossy Prestige to APGA. Other APGA faithful gunning for elective positions in the 2015 general elections also received the flags of the party.
