A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti, Mr Segun Osinkolu, on Thursday called for immediate dissolution of the State Interim executive before the conduct of the congress.

This is contained in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti by the party chieftain that the party members would foil the plot being allegedly hatched by some politicians within the party.
He alleged that some people were regrouping to retain the present executive in the state in the congress coming up before the expiration of Gov. Kayode Fayemi’s tenure on October 15.
Osinkolu, who called on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party not to waste further time said, retaining such structure would affect the party’s chances in the 2015 general elections.

The party chieftain said that the call became necessary on the fact that, the party had not fared better under the present executive.
“We have to sit down and analyse the reasons for the loss of our party in the June 21 Governorship election in the state.
He said, “The party cannot afford to play to the gallery at this critical time.
“In politics, you can’t adopt or retain a strategy and structure that had failed you before for future elections. On this
basis, Awe and his crew must leave the scene.

“This is not a personal, but a necessary and imperative effort that would strengthen our party to be able to confront the PDP in Ekiti in 2015.

“There are some facts we leaders of APC would have to embrace for us to bounce back and reclaim the state
from the PDP.”

Osinkolu appealed to the party leadership to put machinery in motion that would guarantee all contestants for the State and Federal Legislative elections, a level-playing field.

He advised that, the party must move away from the era of imposition and allow the conduct of primaries to field candidates for all elections.
The party chieftain said, the step remains the only means to instill internal democratic mechanism in the party.

“The party can learn from the recent primaries conducted in Adamawa State.
“Senator Jibrilla Bindo was duly elected to fly the party’s flag and this had warded off any form of intra-party crisis in the preparation for the governorship election.

“This is a great plus to Chief Oyegun-led NWC and confirmation that they are ready to do what is right.
“This should therefore be replicated in all the states for the party to be regarded as a true pace-setter in Nigeria politics, ”Osinkolu said.
