A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), sitting in Maitama, has ordered Jordan Ezenwo Nyesom-Wike, son of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, to produce his American international passport before the court, as trial continued Tuesday in a $2.1 million land fraud suit filed against him.
The Case
The suit, marked CV/008/2026, was filed by Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited against Jordan. According to the claimants, they first met Jordan in London and developed a relationship, then met him again in Abuja roughly three months later. The claimants allege they approached Jordan for help acquiring land in Abuja, and that he agreed to assist them in securing 30 hectares in Katampe and another 30 hectares in Guzape.
The Passport Order
The order came during Jordan’s defence, when he told the court he was not in Nigeria on a specific date relevant to the case. When counsel to the claimants, Hamza Dantani, asked which international passport he had used to travel, Jordan said he had travelled on his American passport, adding that he could produce it if required. Dantani then formally applied to the court for an order compelling him to do so. Presiding Justice Sylvanus Oriji granted the application. Dantani separately applied for Jordan to write his full name and signature five times each on plain paper before the court, apparently for comparison purposes.
What’s Next
Justice Oriji adjourned the matter to Wednesday for continuation of the hearing, when Jordan is expected to produce the passport as ordered. As of this report, neither Jordan Wike nor his legal team had issued a public statement responding to the day’s proceedings.
