The recent defection of the former top boss at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] back to the peoples democratic party [PDP] has continued to raise dust across the political landscape of Adamawa State and across the political regions of Nigeria. The former EFCC top boss, Malam Nuhu Ribadu decision to contest for the gubernatorial election under the PDP and not the All Progressive Congress [APC] has touched on political nerves of the political leaders in Adamawa State.
Information available to 247ureports.com reveals that the political leaders in Adamawa have accepted the defection to the party as a “beautiful nonsense” citing that Nuhu Ribadu lacks the political structure to bring about a political victory in a state such as Adamawa particularly following a bitter impeachment run against the former governor, Nyako.
A source within the leadership echelons of the Atiku campaign machinery spoke to 247ureports.com. The source pointed to “Nigerians as a gullible lot” while asking “how on earth will Ribadu win election in Adamawa?”
The source went on to project Nuhu Ribadu as a lite weight in political matters. He pointed to his failed attempt at contesting for presidency as a clear cut example of Nuhu Ribadu naivety towards elected posts. He adds, “I like Ribadu, I respect him and he is a great guy, but not electable at all. I don’t know how Jonathan’s handlers think! Ribadu? Its dead on arrival“.
It is recalled that Ribadu ascension to the post of the top at the EFCC was largely influenced by the then vice president of the federal republic of Nigeria, Abubakar Atiku.
Meanwhile, a source from the President Jonathan kitchen cabinet told 247ureports.com that the presidency has assured Nuhu Ribadu of a bright political future under the banner of the PDP. The source said that should Nuhu Ribadi fails to be victorious at the polls in Adamawa – that he will be compensated with an ambassadorial position to one of the more advance countries.
If there is any political heavyweight of Adamawa’s extraction that is not electable both locally and at the national level, that person is Abubakar Atiku!
