Daredevil kidnappers who have been terrorizing Onitsha and its environs yesterday, dared Governor Willie Obiano as they kidnapped a mother, her child and shot one yesterday in Onitsha.
Trouble reportedly started for the woman as she was being driven on her black jeep with her child by her driver.
On getting close to Enugu Park, along the Onitsha /Enugu Expressway, she was double crossed by two cars and immediately five men who were welding AK47 rifles, started shooting indiscriminately into the air ostensibly to scare aware any challenge as they forced the driver, the woman and her child to lie face down inside one of their cars and whisked away with them to an unknown destination.
As they were shooting they shot a man on the leg and he was said to have been rushed to a nearby hospital.
The sound of the shooting which rented the air resulted in travelers at the Enugu park and other road users to scamper to safety.
On return to count their losses it was discovered that the man was shoot and expended bullets seen littered all over the place.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka, said that he was yet to be informed of the incident adding that he is making contact to get the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of Awada Police Station, on whose jurisdiction the incident occurred.
