Two notorious suspects have been apprehended by the operatives of anti-kidnap unit of Enugu Police command over their alleged involvement in car snatching and kidnap-threat messages to unsuspecting members of the public.

Police source told our reporter that the ring leader of the car snatching syndicate, one Onyekachi Ogbodo, who hails from Okwe-Ngwo, in Udi local government area of Enugu State, believed to reside at No 29 Olubumi,Kpako Aguda Lagos had on 17th March, snatched a blue Toyota Camary at gun point at Hill-View, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu from the victim as she made her way to the entrance gate of her residence.

The Source revealed that Kelechukwu Ani, aka,Opanka,30,who hails Ngwo, Enugu state was arrested alongside Onyekachi.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO,Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, said, “the command got wind of the incident through a complaint from the victim.

“The operatives swung into action and trailed the gang to their hideout. It was at there hideout that Onyekachi was arrested.

“Intensive manhunt is ongoing to nab fleeing members of the gang as we urge the public to always avail security operatives of information that will nip crime in the bud.”

Continuing, the Police Spokesman said the suspects sold the Toyota Camary to a yet-to-be identified buyer at Ontisha for the sum of three hundred and  fourty thousand naira.


In a related development, one Eze Ozoemena from Imilike-Agu Udenu local government area of Enugu state residing at Adani in Uzo -Uwani council area of Enugu has been nabbed for sending kidnap-threat messages to unsuspecting victims.

The suspect, an Artisan, whose stock in trade is to instill kidnap and assassination fear in the victims only for him to demand sums of money ranging from two hundred thousand from his prey.

The tide turned against him as one of his victims, Emmanuel Ozioko, reported his nefarious activities to the anti-kidnap unit which led to his arrest on 5th May.
