Information reaching 247ureports.com indicates that the governor of Imo State, Rochas Owelle Okorocha has been suspended by the leadership of All Progressive Grand Alliance [APGA]. According to the information received, the leadership of the party suspended the Imo State governor over alleged anti-party activities. The Anambra State governor and the Imo State had been at loggerheads over the control of the party – APGA.
Rochas Okorocha’s suspension may not be unconnected with the recent reconciliation between the National Chairman of the APGA and the Governor of Anambra State.
A state party leader campaigning for another party means that Owelle has left APGA before the purported suspension which would have rather been an expulsion. The kind of behaviour of elected politicians and lack of internal democracy in parties suggests that democracy is being threatened by politicians
