Cultist violence appears on the rise at the tertiary institutions in Nigeria – particularly in the south south geo-political region of Nigeria. Information available to 247ureports.com indicates that four  students may have been murdered at the University of Benin [UNIBEN] following what appeared an altercation between warring cult gangs.
Eyewitness account indicate that there may have been many more injured in the shooting which occurred near the university main campus located at Ugbowo along the Benin-Lagos major expressway. Two others where killed at the University sports complex.
The identities of the gunmen and the victims re yet to be made known.
It is recalled that last week, four students were shot dead by police officers at the University of Uyo – following a peaceful protest by the students.
