The Enugu Division of the Court of Appeal this morning granted the embattled National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh the stay of execution he applied for. With this Judgement it means that Chief Victor Umeh remains the APGA Chairman.
It will be recall that the Enugu High Court which was presided over by the state Chief Judge, Justice Innocent Umezurike, had last month sacked the entire members of the APGA National Working Committee (NWC), insisting that the 2010 Convention that brought them to power did not follow due process.
And following the ruling which literally decapitated the party, Umeh headed for the appellate court seeking for stay of execution as well as nullification of the said ruling.
It is also based on the fear that the Appeal Court may grant Victor Umeh the stay of execution he applied for, that Governor Obi’s faction of APGA held the National Convention of the party which was slated for today Monday April 8th 2013 to midnight of Sunday 7th April, 2013 all in the bid to avert the anticipated verdict of the court which was held this morning Monday April 8th 2013.
