A group, The Abia Awakening (TAA) has refuted reports making the rounds that it hates the Gov. Theodore Orji led administration in the state.
In an interview with journalists in Aba, President of the group, Mr. Maxwell Nwadike maintained that his group is not anti government and does not hate the current administration in Abia state; but abhors bad governance.
He described TAA as a non partisan group that advocates good governance for Abia indigenes, insisting that the group is not for a particular zone; but for those who have the interest of the state at heart.
Nwadike who hinted that TAA has over 14,000 members, added that the group has been organizing conferences to provide a platform for people of the state to reason together on how Abia state can be better.
According to him,” We have lamented enough for too long, now is the time to sit together and plan for the future. Sitting in our houses to complain and blame the government will not solve the problem. Nobody on earth shall develop Abia state but themselves. Our fate is in our hands.”
He further denied reports that TAA was initiated by a group of ‘hungry people seeking political relevance.’
“Most of the initiators are young professionals in different endeavours and are doing very well. They are fulfilled and need no political recognition from the government.”
