Popular Singer, Omawumi Donates To IDPs In Benue

Nigerian female popular Singer, Omawumi Omegbele has identified with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Benue, bringing them a message of hope  for the future.

She made this known at the the IDPs camp in Daudu, Guma local government area of the state when she visited to sympathize with them.

The Nigerian Singer and Lifebuoy Ambassador, Omawumi distributed assorted relief materials to Benue IDPs including cartons of Lifebuoy soap.

Omawumi stated that she was in the state to share in the pains of the IDPs as well as promote better hygiene and sanitary condition in the IDPs camp

According to her it was important to raise the awareness on healthy living in IDPs camps because “they come across a lot and bacteria infections can be easily passed and picked resulting to ill health”.

She emphasised the need for washing of hands at all times with soap and clean water.

The artist  who earlier paid a courtesy call on the wife of the Governor of Benue Mrs. Eunice Ortom, described her as “an epitome of humanitarian service” and commended her for playing a leading role in humanitarian service in the state.

Mrs Eunice Ortom appreciated Omawumi for coming to identify with the IDPs at their point of need

The Governor’s wife commended the singer for doing the women proud through her humanitarian activities and thanked her for the sacrifice and show of love.

Also speaking the Executive Secretary Benue State Emergency Management Agency, (SEMA), Mr. Emmanuel Shior appreciated her for finding time to visit the IDPs despite her tight schedules.

Shior called on spirited individuals to emulate the singer, by assisting the state government in taking care of the internally displaced persons.

He said there were 435,000 IDPS in various camps in the state, describing the situation in the camps as disturbing.

Omawumi who distributed Lifebouy soap to the IDPs also thrilled them with with what she termed “music of hope and inspiration”.
