PDP Primaries: Reps Jev Picks Benue North West Senatorial Ticket

Reps Orker Jev, representing Buruku Federal Constituency, has pickedl the PDP senate ticket for Benue North West Senatorial District against the 2019 general elections.

Announcing the results Wednesday morning at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi, Mr Cletus Tyokyaa, representing the chairman, PDP Senatorial Electoral Panel Mrs Ifeoma Enigbue, declared Jev winner, having polled 591 votes to defeat his closest rival Mike Mku, who scored 333 votes.

Enigbue said Mrs Georgina Kundu-Gbayan, the only female contestant in the race got seven votes while Dooyum Iyom got one vote.

He said a total of 835 adhoc delegates voted as well as all statutory delegates.

Some of the statutory delegates at the primaries were; Gov Samuel Ortom, ex Senate President, Dr Iorchia Ayu, Reps Dickson Tarkighir and Reps Mark Gbillah.

In his acceptance speech, Jevthanked his people of Benue North West Senatorial District for their support anfld for staying all thdough day and noght to elect him.

He further assured them of good representation saying he is determined to serve them better as a senator.

“I shall bring more unity and peace to Benue as a senator,’’ he promised.

State Governor Samuel Ortom, hailed the solidarity shown by party faithfuls urging to keep the spirit saying the win was not for Jev alone but for the PDP to ensure a big win in the general elections.

It could be noted that Reps Oker Jev would face the leader of the APC, Senator George Akume, who is the sole candidate of the party in the zone.
