EFCC Invites Sacked SGF, Babachir Lawal
Information available to 247ureports.com from sources within the EFCC [Economic and Financial Crimes Commission] indicates that the troubles for the sacked SGF [Secretary to the Government of the Federation] may be far from over following the termination of his employment with the presidency by President Mohammadu Buhari.
Following the sack of the SGF, the President had instructed the anti-graft agencies to continue with the investigation of the SGF and the NIA boss – who was also sacked alongside the SGF. Our source confirmed that the former NIA boss was invited to the EFCC through a letter. As gathered, the NIA had already honored the EFCC invite.
The sacked SGF is believed to honor the invitation in the coming days. But our source points to the top boss at the BPP [Bureau of public procurement] as having the brunt of the responsible for which the sack SGF is being investigated for. “It was the BPP boss that signed off of the contract awards“.
The source notes that the EFCC may extend their investigation to the BPP.
The sacked SGF had been investigated by a committee set up President Buhari and headed by the vice president, Prof. Osibanjo. The committee concluded in its investigation that Babachir Lawal was liable for the allegations of corruption leveled against him.
