Part- 1
Writing to many, is a calling only those who are truly called can do. Over the years, I have continued to receive lots of death threats from politicians who feel exposed or in some cases wounded by my stand on political issues. I am a Child of God, No man gives life and no man can take my life. They will try but, will always fail. I can’t stop saying the hard Truth. I am a realist in nature.
Sincerely, I have never used my ink to malign anyone in the past and I won’t also do now or in the future.
I don’t write necessarily to extort money from politicians. I see writing as a divine assignment from God.
I am trying to set the stage set for us to move to our location.
To the crux of our discuss “the Local Government election in Imo State, expectations and the ugly story of another Oath scandal.”
I will start officially by quoting two renowned Scholars. Kingsley Fishers, in one of his books he admonished, “Sometimes due to bias or carefulness, we may advertently legitimise illegitimacy and once that illegitimacy has been legitimised, the citizenry must give such support until another legitimate means is used to correct the situation.” Former United States President John F Kennedy in one of his quotes stated, “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable.”
The above contexts was political hitherto, an arena in which blackmail, disinformation, excoriation and scaremongering aggregate as the common fare for partisanship, the citizens are always helpless.
Oath taking has suddenly turned to a simple way of winning election in our clan, some greedy politicians now resort to coercing voters to oath to win elections. The last election is a typical example, though the rest is now history.
Just recently, while I was having some good time with a friend who visited me from Abuja at one of the eateries in Owerri with a bottle of Chilled Budweiser, a call came into my phone. Behold, it was another friend of mine who is from Aboh Mbaise, after exchanging pleasantries with him, he informed me about happenings in Aboh Mbaise PDP.
Hear him, “That same cabal that used Oath to thwart the yearnings of the people during the last election, have started their devilish act again. They are administering oath on people again to win election, the gathered in a hotel the other day to administer oaths on people.”
For want of space I can’t write in details all he told me. For security reasons also, I wouldn’t want to mention his name here.
After my interaction with him on phone, I had to put a call across to other party people in my Local Government to know about the true situation of things. Unfortunately, their answers to the alleged scandal was in the affirmative.
I have also received several calls from concerned leaders and party stalwarts telling me to speak on the above “WAHALA” because to them, I have always been vocal on critical Leadership issues as it relates Aboh Mbaise our only dear Local Government.
I am a Christian by birth, born into a highly dedicated Anglican home, my parents are retired School teachers Principal and Head Mistress respectively. I was thought never to take oath by my parents. I have never deviated and won’t also deviate now and in the future. I am duty bound to add my voice to this evil act as a concerned Christian.
Any politician associated to “OATH SCANDAL” is “EVIL” I mean the person is evil and has no business in Leadership. Subjecting people to Oath signifies lack of trust.
The irony is that you don’t lead anyone you don’t trust. Leadership is strictly based on trust. Leadership is a very serious business and for serious minded persons not social misfits.
How long shall we continue to dwell in this abnormally?
In the words of Wilfred Osborne “when men are in the course and pursuit for power, they may compromise principles diminish their integrity, speak two languages from the same tongue because to them it does not matter what they use to acquire power after all power is the ultimate and secondary to money and life in that order.”
If we don’t put an end to this ugly Oath issue, it can jeopardize the future of our unborn generation. Who knows how many of our people are under bondage as a result of this ugly situation!
The forthcoming Local Government election should be free fair and credible. If we allow popular candidates to emerge as Council Chairmen, it will no doubt help in resuscitating the system thereby fast tracking the Rebuild Agenda at the Local Government level.
Finally, our Leaders should sit-up and stop forming deaf ears to issues of this nature. Some of our Leaders have continued to sit in the shadows and lament from the flanks. When this ugly oath issue raised its ugly head during the last House of Assembly Primary election in Aboh Mbaise, a committee was set up to look into the issue, but funny enough, we are yet to get a report from that committee. After a year plus. Does it mean that the committee was disbanded in secrecy, or they did their job in secrecy?
I think our party Chairman Hon Obinna Onuma should be in a perfect position to give answers to the above questions.
In the words of former United States President Harry S Truman “in politics if you can’t stand the heat get out of the Kitchen.” Any politician worth the name takes the cue and delivers as much as he receives if not much more.
But, funny enough the high point of all the ongoing ABRAKATABRA is a matter of “A REPORTER BEEN REPORTED”.
The intrigues cruel practices that characterized the last Assembly election is been brought to limelight.
So when I say that we are Overcomers, don’t doubt me. Events of the coming days will expose hidden evil plots perpetrated in the past.
Don’t forget in a hurry that Mr KARMA is still alive.
I will see you in part 2.
